Lately, there have been two pretty huge stories that have dominated all mainstream news channels and they may prove that the world will end in approximately 2 weeks.California wildfires have destroyed buildings and forced thousands of residents to evacuate.
One fire, about 100 miles north of San Francisco, covered about 40,000 acres by Sunday morning, September 13. Four firefighters were hospitalized in stable condition, and two towns were evacuated.
Approximately 60 miles south of Sacramento, another fire has burned 65,000 acres in less than a week.
Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency and evacuated 2,700 residents by week's end.
Environmentalists say that if something isn't done about global warming there will be nothing left of California. Others have predicted the next earthquake will be so big that it will rip it from the rest of the country.
This doesn't mean that California will become an island resort. I mean, maybe it will, but it's going to cause a hell of a lot of devastation before that happens. It's quite possible that it will just sink.
Now, if that story doesn't prove the end times to be true, then this next one will...
A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump nearly tied among registered voters. Clinton leads Trump 46-43, a gap that's within the survey's margin of error.
In a result including all adults, the Democrat has the upper hand in a 51-39 split due to her popularity among young people and racial minorities, who are less likely to register.
So, my assessment of these two stories as it relates to the end of the world date, September 23, 2015, is 50/50.
The damage might already be done in California, but this should get the rest of the country to take notice.
Maybe we focus on being a bit nicer to the planet instead of making sure General Electric never be charged for taxes.
Yes, in case anyone who might be reading this doesn't know, G.E. does not pay any taxes to the federal government.
We might not be able to save California from the inferno, but we can most certainly keep Hillary Clinton and Donald trump from ever getting close to Washington D.C., let alone the Oval Office.
As president of these United States these two disasters on a podium will only do one of two things if not both; destroy what's left of the constitution and start world war 3.
One is shrouded in scandal and "alleged" illegalities, the other is a big child who screams he's right, everyone else is wrong and gives no reasons why.
Then again, Hillary and the Donald don't sound all that different from most people in the Legislative branch.
Damn, I don't see any possible way this planet doesn't go to hell in a handcart.
